Are You Tired Of Having Insomnia
You will probably notice that you are having some sort of
trouble getting to sleep at night, when the presenters on the late night chat
shows begin to look more familiar to you than some of the members of your
family. Or even worse still, when you are chatting to the night guy at your
local night shop and you are on a first name basis.
So What is This Common
Complaint?
To put it simply Insomnia is not a disease or disorder on
its own, it is more of a complaint or a symptom of an underlying problem. In a
nutshell, it is a definite indicator that there is something wrong.
If you are suffering from loss of sleep you are not alone,
it is actually a very common problem, in fact around 30 percent of all adults
suffer from it at some time or another.
It is mainly characterised as an inability to go to sleep
and stay asleep for any normal period of time.
Are You an Insomniac?
There can be many symptoms associated with this condition,
but some of the more common ones are:
- Finding it difficult to go to sleep and then stay
asleep.
- Waking up tired.
- Feeling tired an irritable during the day.
- Feeling as though you want to go to sleep during the
day.
- Waking up with headaches that feel like a hang over.
- Having impaired memory.
What Causes These Problems?
Remembering that this is not a sleeping disorder or disease
in itself, it can therefore be one or more of many problems, which can include:
- Apnea.
- Restless legs.
- Anxiety.
- Depression.
- Stress.
- Weight (especially Obesity).
- Eating habits.
- Exercising near to bedtime
- Eating a large meal near to bedtime.
- Too much alcohol.
- Too much caffeine.
- Medication.
Even an
overactive mind.
