Snoring Men's Information
Why Men Snore Most
Surveys have suggested that Snoring men's figures out number Snoring Women by 2 to 1.
All the reasons for this are not completely known but some of the suggested ones
are:
Physical types, because men's necks are in general much thicker than women's so
they have
more fleshy tissue.
Social behaviour, some men like to go for a drink or two on their way home from
work,
not realising that the alcohol they drink can relax the tissues at the back of
their throat. Once relaxed the tissue collapses onto the airway and vibrates, thus giving
us
the snoring man.
Some other factors that contribute to snoring include:
- Being overweight.
- Smoking.
- Taking medications for an allergy, this can dry up the nasal passages.
- If you are suffering from a cold or a bout of flu, this can clog up your
airways.
- Over doing it with nasal medications for your cold or flu.
- Having an allergy, this can clog the airway.
- Bulkiness of throat tissue.
- Poor muscle tone of the throat or tongue or both.
- Normal loss of neck muscle tone through aging.
- If your Tonsils or Adenoids become inflamed.
- Having a big beer belly (some snoring men’s problem).
-
Sleep Apnea.
Is there a Treatment?
There are quite a few treatments for individuals who snore. Perhaps some of
the best include losing weight, increasing
physical fitness and muscle tone, trying to develop a nightly sleep pattern,
and sleeping on your side. These are things that
individuals can do own their own to take control of their problem. However,
some individuals with sleep apnea or chronic
snoring that are not affected by the above changes may need some professional
help. Doctors can easily evaluate if you are a
candidate for surgery or suggest different devices that are developed to help
reduce or stop snoring.
